Philippe D. Clarinval to become director of the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz
In autumn, Philippe D. Clarinval will take over as executive host of the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz.
Mr. Clarinval, originally from Central Switzerland, will succeed Laurence and Dominic Bachofen, who are leaving the Tschuggen Hotel Group after 14 successful years to embark in a new direction and dedicate themselves to a non-corporate project. “Taking over the management of this five-star hotel rich in history yet still modern, is a great honour. I am delighted to have the opportunity of playing a part in its future development”, explains the 42-year-old hotelier as he looks forward to the new challenge.
Following completion of his MBA degree in hotel management, Mr. Clarinval has worked around the world. After holding several managerial positions in Europe, the USA and Asia, and then serving as Resident Manager of Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts in Indonesia and Malaysia, he spent seven years as Managing Director of the five-star Omnia Mountain Lodge luxury hotel in Zermatt, transforming it into one of Switzerland's leading hotels.
The multilingual Swiss-Belgian citizen is also President of the AlpAdria Chapter of the Cornell Hotel Society and a member of the European Hotel Managers Association.
